Joaquin Phoenix had a memorable appearance on Letterman last night. Awkward, uncomfortable, maddening. Brilliant actor, but a lethargic, arrogant, depressed person.
Update: Newsweek had a similarly bizarre experience with Joaquin. A hoax in the making? If so, not a very funny one.

I've been agonizing over this - at first I thought he was simply losing his mind and/or using hard drugs. He's totally slurring his words like a wastoid. But that Newsweek piece puts a whole different spin on it. A documentary about himself? All of this makes for great footage - yes? Amazing actor, but a strange bird for sure.
