Black Dub (feat. Trixie Whitley and Daniel Lanois)

I'm a subscriber to the Youtube channel nprmusic because each week they post an intimate performance or two from new and sometimes well-known artists. The bands come into the NPR offices in Washington, D.C. and perform at Bob Boilen's desk, hence the name of the series, Tiny Desk Concerts.  Bob Boilen hosts the NPR show, All Songs Considered.

Every once in a while I am blown away by an act. The most recent is Black Dub, featuring Trixie Whitley, who has a soulful, resonant voice.  She's sparsely accompanied by guitarist Daniel Lanois. The result is a powerful mix of jazz, blues and soul music.  Typically not my cup of tea, but I can't argue with this result.

As luck would have it, Black Dub is playing in Boston tonight.  But, seeing as I have a very early meeting tomorrow morning, the Tiny Desk Concert will have to suffice this time around.
