A few years ago I wrote about an L.A.-based artist, Sean Cheetham. Recently he put out around a dozen new paintings, and I'm excited by a few of them.
The installation of "I Pity The Fool 2012" is startling and captivating:

His use of dark colors in this one, Khari 2011, is skillful and makes me study it with appreciation:
Conversly, his use of whites in White Rabbit harkens back to how John Singer Sargent made whites pop amid darkened scenes.
